Shoes - the "heeling" effect!
by Coupon Bella
I always thought I was
immaculately dressed from top to toe till that fateful evening when
I was out with a new bunch of people. Dressed in a slinky evening
top over a pair of fitting slacks, I was all set to groove the night
away. And as I sipped my long island iced tea and readied myself for
the next number, I couldn’t help noticing that my wedges under my
slacks stood out like a sore thumb! That’s when I turned around and
actually took notice. All my new buddies wore pointed heels. Some
wore them covered while some were open but they were all pointed and
all stilettos. And suddenly, I looked like someone from the far
back, someone who had outdated shoes on her rack.
Why is a wedge outdated and a
stiletto in? When do you wear slip-ons and when sandals? Are blocks
in or are they out and can one wear boots without a doubt? And if
you are wondering what on earth I am talking about, it is about
different types of shoes. What makes them different from each other?
How is a wedge different from a stiletto? The difference lies mainly
in the heels. So, let’s look at the different types of heels and
their effect on the person wearing them. In other words, let’s look
at the ‘heeling’ effect!
First the stiletto – a
must-have for every girl, that is every fashionable girl. Stilettos
are often associated with the femme fatale image and all the who’s
who of the entertainment world wear them. Stilettos are usually
pointed, slender in appearance, and high heeled. They are usually
pointed at the front and at the heels. Great to look at but rough on
the heels!
Wedges, now I realize, is
more for the plain Janes. As the name suggests, the heels here are
wedge shaped. They are flat at the bottom but rise upward around the
heels. They are comfortable and easy on the heels but one wouldn’t
really call it every girl’s envy.
Pumps are generally high
heeled and usually covered from the front that women can slip into
for almost any occasion. This is why I prefer to call them the
slip-ons. You can wear them with dresses, pants, skirts, in fact
with just about anything. One word of advice here, slip-ons are best
worn for formal or semi formal events.
If you want to go for a
casual event or want to frisk around in a flirty skirt or the floral
dress, I would suggest the sandals. You can also team the sandals up
with a pair of cotton or Capri pants. Sandals are more “girlie” and
give a sense youth and buoyancy. They are usually flat heeled so
they add to the comfort level.
Finally we have the boots.
Boots can be for both fashionables and plain Janes and any guesses
how? That’s right the main differential factor being the heels. If
they are ‘pointed’ and ‘high’ you are pointed toward the high side
of the fashion world whereas a flat heel would suggest a more
grounded approach.
