For some unknown
reason, my toddler loves playing with offices supplies more than
toys. She mimics me working on a laptop computer. We let her play
with an old laptop computer so that she can feel like a good helper
as she turns the laptop computer on, clicks on a word processor, and
starts typing her baby gibberish.
She also loves
holding pens, post-its, post-it flags, binder clips and USB drives.
However, I’m always afraid that she is going to poke herself or poke
her eye out or clip herself with the binder clip, so I try in vain
to remove these items from the firm grip of her strong little
hands. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that quickly grabbing
the items out of her hands was the wrong solution. She would scream
out in anger at the top of her lungs until you returned her office
supplies to her.
Instead, I try
trading her other appealing items such as stickers and return
address labels which seem to be more fun than post-it notes and
flags. But when all else fails, I trade her gummy vitamins which
are her new favorite edibles for now. The only problem with gummy
vitamins is that just one or two are never enough for her, but the
label instructs to give toddlers no more than 2 gummy vitamins per
day. In the meanwhile, she’ll enjoy playing office with all of the
office supplies from OfficeMax.com.
